Collecting your debts

Are your clients treating you like a Bank?

Having trouble collecting your debts?  Would you like to accelerate your cash-flow, without unnecessarily impacting your business relationships?

At SCL Andreyev Doman we can help you put in place a simple and effective process to get paid sooner.

Being in a position to collect your debts quickly begins when you first start doing business with a new customer. It starts with setting out your mutual rights and responsibilities in your Terms of Trade.  If you do not have comprehensive and up-to-date Terms of Trade, or do not use them in every case, then you are already behind the 8-ball.

If you invoice in accordance with your Terms of Trade, there is little room for your clients to act surprised at your account.  If your customers have agreed to your Terms of Trade, and are still not paying - then the issue becomes one of respect.  Put simply, you are being taken advantage of.

If this is the case, then you need a simple but effective process to follow up your debtors and get paid.  This starts with a straight forward and firm "Reminder Letter".  If this is not responded to, then it is time to issue a legally compliant "Final Demand".  If drafted correctly, this will ensure any reasonable costs you incur in collecting your debts will be recoverable.

You can find out more about effectively collecting your debts from our website - where you can download our Debt Recovery Booklet.

We are also running a series of seminars in conjunction with the Business Enterprise Centres ("BECs") on "Collecting Your Own Debts".  Find a location and date that suits you.

Tom Doman and Family visit Cambodian Children’s Trust Orphanage 2010

The Cambodian Children’s Trust (CCT) was created in 2007 by Tara Winkler and is home to 46 children. The role of the orphanage is to help children overcome their backgrounds of abuse and neglect and break the cycle of poverty. The non-profit organisation also supports several families in the Battambang region, and is establishing a range of community development programs that reach out to people in need.

In late December 2010 Tom Doman and his Family visited the Orphanage in Battambang, in Cambodia’s North West region. Tom’s family joined the children during their English lesson, and afterwards played frizbee with them. See photos of the visit below.

Tom First became aware of the CCT, when Tara and the Orphanage were featured on ABC’s Australian Story in April earlier that year. For more information on the Orphanage and the work to be involved please click here.

SCL Andreyev Doman provides financial support to the CCT.  If you would like to find out how you can help the CCT, please call Tom on 1300 654 590.
