Tom heads up our Disputes Practice. Tom’s focus is on achieving practical, as well as commercial, outcomes for his clients.
Tom Doman was awarded an LLB from the University of Adelaide in 1981 and was admitted to practice in 1982.
He has specialised in dispute resolution, litigation and Court work for the whole of his legal career. However, his experience is wide and varied.
After admission to practice, Tom spent a number of years practicing in the Northern Territory of Australia, including as a Crown Prosecutor. He then returned to Adelaide in 1989 to practice and has specialised in all aspects of commercial litigation since that time.
He was a Senior Associate with Knox and Hargrave in the 1990’s, panel solicitors for the ANZ Bank in South Australia. Thereafter, he moved to Lynch and Meyer, a medium sized firm in Adelaide and was appointed a Partner.
In 1999, Tom Doman commenced the practice of Doman Lawyers with its primary focus being in dispute resolution and commercial litigation. Since then the practice has expanded significantly into the areas of Estate Planning, debt recovery & insolvency work and property law, including conveyancing via Doman Lawyer’s other division Oracle Conveyancing. Tom has conducted and managed major litigation (including class actions), in areas such as trade practices, mortgage and security disputes, property, contract and commercial disputes in the High Court, Federal Court, Supreme Courts and lower Courts in South Australia and interstate.
His focus is on achieving practical and commercial outcomes for clients.
He has served on the Law Society Committees and on the Boards of Charities. He is also the Honourary Legal Advisor for World Youth International.
Interests outside law include bushwalking and trekking (he completed the Kokoda Track in July 2008), over viewing the operation of Yadlamalka, a sheep and cattle station in the Flinders Ranges, that has been in the Doman family since the 1890's and travel particularly to India and South East Asia.
